If you dig prog, you’re going to love Classic Rock Presents…Prog!
A quite progtastic and lavish wallet houses the very first issue of Classic Rock presents Prog, our brand new quarterly magazine devoted to all matters progressive. In fact, we’re betting that our new work of art ends up on more than a few readers’ bedroom walls.
Cover stars Pink Floyd are looked at in depth in the magazine, with an exploration of where the three surviving band members go from here. There’s also a look at the mercurial career of founder Syd Barrett and an unpublished interview with the late Rick Wright.
Other prog giants feature in issue 1. We talk exclusively to current Yes singer Benoit David, explore the extra-curricular careers of Messrs. Emerson, Lake and Palmer, talk to Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson about “the mother of all concept albums” and discuss Rick Wakeman’s plans to perform a lavish production of The Six Wives Of Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace in May.
Elsewhere Rush’s Neil Peart proves to be a more than amiable host, Marillion’s Mark Kelly revisits the band’s massive Garden Party show at Milton Keynes in 1986, author Rich Wilson reveals the story of working with Dream Theater on their recent book and Coheed & Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez reveals his passion for comic books.
There’s also a free CD with issue 1 featuring over an hour’s worth of music, which highlight’s our desire to champion new progressive talent as well. Too that end you’ll find features on the likes of Pure Reason Revolution, Demians, Panic Room, The Reasoning, Esoterica, Pineapple Thief, Frost* and Blood Ceremony. Who says prog rock is an old man’s game?
